From the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society archives, this film was produced in 1957 and tells of the progress made in three distinct areas - Electronics, Automation, and Imagination. The Centralized Traffic Control or CTC system shown in the film between Buffalo and Erie was the largest in the world at the time. At the time this equipment in Frontier Yard was considered to be state of the ...

While he's best known for his work on Southern Pacific steam locomotive no. 4449, Doyle McCormack's first love was the Nickel Plate Road. His father worked for the railroad and his first cab ride on steam was aboard No. 743, a sister to our very own 765. Before serving as a consultant on the initial restoration of Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 in the mid-1970s, Doyle served on the ...

Help Restore This Vintage EMD Locomotive!
I was expecting to the train go BRRRRT well now i realize the train was going slow But the sound kinda sounds like it was about zoink through out
NYC was the quintessential north american Golden area railroad. The Dreyfuss, the Hudsons, the Niagras, their Streamline EMD diesels pulling the Grey coaches. All incredible nostalgic for all railroaders alike. It's very sad what happened to then in the end and to many of their amazing steam locomotives.
Will the other 6 chime whistle from 2012-2020 ever come back?? I love that whistle😢😢
Out of the blue a 90s childhood memory about this locomotive came to mind. Checking Google maps, I was shocked to see an empty lot where the locomotive, a few cars, and signal tower used be. Glad to learn someone saved it!
I've seen the best of the best, but this video has it the best!!!
Guys I think the steam locomotive says fuck you.
Hopd units go hard, especially with that paint scheme and horn. Awesome catch too bro! 💯
My mother loved this video my family is from West Virginia
No. 765 may be cool, but can she fly and bring children to the north pole?
Way not have her run all year round?
'Ya know what nobody seems to mention in ANY cab video...is the strength that it takes to pull the throttle back. Doyle is a rather large guy, yet he (and multi-others I've seen), have a considerable amount of difficulty pulling that grapevine back and I somewhat get-it, (since I've never had the opportunity). There "ain't" NO power assisted throttles on ANY machine, right? Me, and at age 70...? I'd have to put my left foot against the back head, (or something nearby), and strain like hell just to get it to creep along, (not to mention in running mode).
Sounds a lot like a Nathan K5L!
2:24 NKP #765 Ex-Wabash Nathan 6 chime, and Ex-Chesapeake & Ohio 3 chime.
I can't help but noticing that C&O 2716 had three whistles at the time, how is that possible?
I love the thumping sound these give off as they run down the track, the sounds of the boots from conductors past pushing it down the tracks. Beautiful machines.
Question fortwayne could you ever bring back the old chime whistle from 2012-2018 soon?
Owwwooooo😮😮😮😯😯😯🙌🙌
This is a great video! I really envy the man at the throttle of this magnificant machine. Thanks for a job well done!
Hooter whistles are gawd awful!!
why the 1225 kind of sound like the 2012 whistle of the nkp 765
Why does NKP 765 have Milwaukee road 261’s whistle on it?
25:00 Columbia City
12:57 "deer!"
I have no words, just beautiful
1:35:33 Clear!
Ironic that they show a brand new Tier-4 EMD......that only lasted three years and is already sitting in a Kentucky dead line. Meanwhile, this 70 year old SD-9 is still chugging. They don't build them like they used to!
Very nice video but change the title to the Broadway limited cab ride that's train 41 not train 29 which is the Capitol limited!
I started my Amtrak career on this train just a few years later as sleeping car/ coach car attendant in 1988.
come back to highland/jonesville MI
Beautiful sounding horn!
I love how the sound reverberates
Can You Please Put PRR 1361’s Whistle On Top Of The Secondary Whistle?
The mars light on NKP #358 works great
NKP #358 and #765 make a good team. A freshly restored SD9 and berkshire pulling a train. Thanks Progress Rail for restoring the SD9 back to NKP colors
These locomotives were built to tackle the grades solo or Doublehead on these kind of runs just like the articulated locomotives did with heavy freight. Nothing can stop the power of steam.
12:37 It Sounds Like PRR Q2 Whistle
I use that whistle for my Bachmann HO scale J3a Hudson model, and it fits it wonderfully. It’s loud and booming, and it conveys the same sense of power and strength that the real J3a Hudsons were often associated with. The real J3a Hudsons wore whistles of the same type as the Nathan 6 chime on 765, and it’s clear to see why. They’re beautiful whistles that sound great on both freight and passenger locomotives.
I use that whistle on my J3a Hudson locomotive model, and it fits really nicely. It perfectly conveys that sense of strength, power, and prestige that the J3a Hudsons and S2 Berkshires carried in real life. I couldn’t think of any better a whistle for such beautiful and massive engines. It’s even prototypical to the J3as, mainly because the NYC’s Hudsons (along with most of their other large passenger locomotives) wore Nathan long-bell 6 chimes.
Hi very nice. Thank you 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Just love that sound
Send the train to Sweden, we have so fucking bad trains they newer comes in time or never comes 😂😂😂
Beautiful chug and whistle !
Ahhhhh the sound of the Berk... NKP 765
Would love to do Throttle time with 765 this year hopefully since 611 is down for maintenance
Now we need a photo charter of both of them pulling freights! ;D
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
765 always puts on such a good show!
Hope you guys got the branches off the bell 🤣
I saw that too I was thinking either branches or a big green lizard was hanging out up there.😂😂
The one spot in the tone of the steam horn my dog howls, she howled today when it was going north.
It's steam whistle. Horns are airhorns and are usually on diesels but some steam locomotives had them.
I get the reference
Just watched it go by right after this was posted on way to Hillsdale. I think I'm going to film it if I can catch it going back to Edon today, or on way to Jonesville tomorrow.
